ERAD
The story of ERAD-NPO (Friends of Emergency Medical Department Non-Profit Organization) began more than twenty years ago with the joint activity of a group of volunteers led by the head nurse of the MALRAD (Center for Emergency Medicine). At the time it was called Schneider's Children Emergency Care Department (ER), it was understood that the ER department had special requirements and needs.
The ER is not only the emergency department of the Schneider Children's Medical Center, the only one of its kind and size in our region, but, it is also the first station for the children and their companions when reaching Schneider Children’s Hospital.
As the various volunteers and staff identified needs and priorities, ERAD-NPO and the collaboration with the ER progressed and branched out. This led amongst others to the purchase of advanced and innovative medical equipment, the first of its kind to be used in Israel in any medical facility and in particular in a children’s hospitals.
Hospitalization at Schneider Medical Center
Hospitalization of only one child out of about six - this is the excellence of the MALRAD.
At least 58,000 children come to the MALRAD every year and of these, only about 13% of the children are hospitalized. This is a tremendous professional and human achievement that is based not only on the professionalism of the MALRAD doctors and nurses, but also on the concept of excellence in medical service for children and their companions. This approach is expressed in the provision of all the required services in the department itself, including simple and complex tests, treatments, medications and recommendations. This saves precious time in saving lives.
